Brick Barn

This is the second barn on the farmsite of the barn I showed you last week.  This one is  brick with a brick silo.

This is a walkway between the barn and the silo

Willow Lake Lutheran Church

This is a photo of Willow Lake Lutheran Church taken last April.  It is a rural church which is no longer used for church services but is sometimes used for special occasions.  I posted a photo of it in the snow last December.

Weekly Top Shot or 2 or 3

There was a vintage car show in town today.  Of course I had to get a few shots of some of those old cars I grew up with in the 50's & 60's.  The one I am going to show you today though is a little older.  It is a 1929  Model A Ford.  I love how they have painted it black with red trim.

Closeup of the grill

I wanted to show the inside but my shot is not the best.  Love the red dice and the knob on the steering wheel is the 8 ball, which you can't read.  These guys and gals really spiff up the inside as well as the outside.

Have any of you been up close and personal with a HMMV?  I'll show you one in another post.  Though it's not vintage it was a special part of the car show.

5 Small signs of spring

After having had yet another snowstorm on Monday, we are finally seeing some signs of spring. I am showing some for Random 5 Friday.

1. The robins were the first to show up but they came before we had 3 more snowstorms.  There is a saying here that it has to snow 3 more times after the robins come.  I guess the was the case this year.

2. My Hen & Chicks are looking good after the snow melted.

3. The peonies are beginning to peak through the ground.

4. The neighbor's tree is starting to bud.

5. And the ducks are enjoying the open water.

What a difference a week makes. It's 65 degrees and the sun is shining!  There are still dirty piles of snow around though.  Hopefully they will be gone soon.

Joining Nancy  over at a Rural Journal for Random 5 Friday.
Check it out to see all the other randomness.

Thanks for stopping!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Old Farm Finds

While I was at the farm site taking photos of the white barn I showed you in my last post I spied this old green Dodge truck.

It was sitting next to the barn I haven't showed you yet.

I also saw what looks like the wheels from an old wagon.
I edited it with Yester-color  in Picmonkey for a vintage look.

I like finding old trucks, cars, tractors and farm equipment.  Do you?

Old White Barn

These pictures were taken on March 29th when we had sunshine and all the snow had melted.  Since then we have had 22 inches of snow and it's snowing again today.  I am so tired of it but I keep telling myself not to complain.  We need the moisture and think of all those  people that are having flooding.

This farm site belongs to a friend and has no house.  But it has 2 barns.  I am saving one of the barns for next weeks Barn Charm though.

East Side

North Side with just a little snow

South Side

I didn't go around to the wet side as it was too muddy.  Maybe I'll go back when things have greened up.

I really like the cupola

An old pump on the East side.

Bachman Idea House

The sun is shining today and I am going to show a little color  lot of yellow from the Bachman Idea House in Minneapolis which I visited last weekend.  Be aware this post is photo heavy.

Lamp made from flower pots.

The dining room table.

Huge flower arrangement on a pine table.
That is an old gate painted yellow in the background.

The use of a patio table in the kitchen

A lamp made out of a bird cage.  There is burlap woven through the cage and big pearl type beads in the bottom.  The light bulb is very fancy with a silver top.

There is a lamp on each side of the bed.  The headboard is made of a rug rolled on a curtain rod.

The office had lots of birds.  You can see them on top of the curtains.  Even the shelf is a bird shape and there is a bird cage sitting in the corner.  A beautiful yellow bouquet sits on the desk.

The ceiling light is made of grapevines.

The next couple of photos are in the girls room.
Pieces of picket fence are used upside down with grapevines as valances for the curtains.

The desk in the girls room

The back of the chairs in the porch were decorated with ribbons, greenery and spoon rests.

Planters in the porch

Another lamp made from a bird cage.

The window boxes.

These are only a few of the pictures I took, but are my favorites.  You can see a lot more photos from the Bachman House by visiting Linda at Itsy Bits and Pieces.  She did several posts on the house and there are links to them on her blog.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!
I have to go out and shovel snow now.  See you next time.

The Lineup

I haven't posted for over a week and we are having the same kind of weather that we had back on April 9th when I posted the birds in the snow storm.  Schools are all closed for the 3rd time in April.

Here are the poor little dark eyed juncos lining up trying to find lunch in the alley behind my house.

The poor little robin is all hunkered down in the snow.

I do have some colorful pictures that I took at the Bachman Idea House in Minneapolis last Saturday.  I will post them later today or tomorrow as I'm really needing some color!  I hope you are having some color and sunshine in your day.

Even though I haven't posted in a week, I have been visiting all of you even if I didn't leave a comment.

Until next time!

Canada Geese in the fog

Good Morning everyone.  Circle was cancelled so I have the day free.  We had 4 inches of snow yesterday, freezing rain last night and then another inch or so of snow on top of that.  They are advising no travel as the roads are very slippery.  And they are still predicting 6 to 12 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow. grrrr.

While I was out driving in the fog on Monday, I spied these 2 Canada Geese swimming in a pond.  I don't get wildlife photos very often so I just kept snapping away.

I like the ripples and reflections they make.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be around to visit you soon.
Hoping the weather is better where you are.

More Fog?

No!  It's snow! I know I said I probably wouldn't be posting more this week.  And I've also said I wasn't going to post anymore snow pictures.  But I just can't help myself.  I am supposed to be cleaning and baking because I'm having Circle here tomorrow.  But I am procrastinating because no one may come because of this snow storm.

What the heck's going on?  It's April 9th.

The blackbirds are eating all the bird seed!

The sparrows and the dark eyed juncos are eating under the feeder

Along came Mr. Squirrel and scared the birds away

Digging for bird seed under the snow

Waiting for Mr. Squirrel to leave

Guess he's had enough

And the little birdies returned

It's not snowing as much now, but I just heard we could get 6 to 12 inches Wednesday night and Thursday.
I guess it's our turn here in Southern Minnesota because we missed most of the snow that Northern Minnesota has gotten all winter. We do need the moisture so hope it melts soon!

Well I better get back to my baking and cleaning...just in case.

Have a great day.  See you next time

Barb

p..s.  I did visit most of you early this morning, but did not take time to comment.
