Happy New Year

I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Years Eve.  Pretty quiet around here.  I have come down with a miserable cold and didn't even get out of my PJ's New Years Day.  A lot of you have been reviewing 2013, but I have decided to look ahead to 2014 instead.  The first 6 months of last year were pretty stressful with my mom being sick and then passing away and all the doctor's appointment for me while trying to find out what was going on with me.  The second half of the year was pretty uneventful except for the fun time at the Tall Ship Festival in Duluth.  And then of course Christmas Eve was pretty special with my daughter getting engaged.  You can read about that in my last post.

I'm not making any New Year's Resolutions because I don't usually keep them anyway.  I do better if I set goals for myself.  The biggest goal for this year is to clean out and organize my basement.  I had started that last year but then after mom passed away, all of her things ended up in my basement.  Wish me luck because it looks like I am a hoarder.  Well maybe I am.  I have some fun things to look forward to this year.  One being my daughter's wedding and possibly some traveling!

It has been way to cold here to go out and take pictures so I have been taking some through the windows.
This one if on New Years Eve morning with the snow coming down.

These 2 were taken this morning with the frost on the windows. The sun was shining brightly.  But the frost was so thick you can't even see anything outside except a few speckles of sun shining through.

The frost does really  make for some interesting patterns.

Thanks to all of you for following along with me and all your nice comments.  They mean a lot to me.

Until next time

Orange and Gold

While out for an evening drive a week or so ago I took this shot of the farm site with the windmill backed by the orange sky.

Leaves on my Maple tree

My lawn yesterday

My lawn today.  What a difference a day makes in Minnesota.

We had about 4 inches of snow overnight.  I have to dig out my boots and go out and shovel snow and leaves.

I did get the living room cleaned.  Now I am pricing Christmas items and decorating my space at the lighting store.  I'll show you a photo when I get done decorating.

I hope you are all having a great week and I'll see you next time!

The Lineup

I haven't posted for over a week and we are having the same kind of weather that we had back on April 9th when I posted the birds in the snow storm.  Schools are all closed for the 3rd time in April.

Here are the poor little dark eyed juncos lining up trying to find lunch in the alley behind my house.

The poor little robin is all hunkered down in the snow.

I do have some colorful pictures that I took at the Bachman Idea House in Minneapolis last Saturday.  I will post them later today or tomorrow as I'm really needing some color!  I hope you are having some color and sunshine in your day.

Even though I haven't posted in a week, I have been visiting all of you even if I didn't leave a comment.

Until next time!

Snow and Ice

Last Sunday after our snowstorm I went out and took some pictures of the snow and ice on my Sunkist Arborvitae and my Japanese Yew.

A little green for Green Day over at Raindrops and Daisies

Snowy Sunday

It was snowing heavily this morning so I just had to take a few pictures.  It sure has whitened up the dirty landscape.

My backyard next to the garage

Neighbor's trees

Kids enjoying the snow

Temperature is about 30 degrees

It has quit snowing now and the birds sparrows have come out to eat.

It wasn't much of a snow storm compared to Nemo but they have named it Orko.  They are getting much more snow north of here.  But they have a blizzard warning out here because the winds are supposed to pick up.  We get a lot of wind here in western Minnesota.

I hope all the people in the North East are getting their power back and getting dug out from their snow storm.

Thanks for stopping!  I hope you are having a sunny Sunday!
Until next time.

Christmas Lights

I remember riding around looking at Christmas lights when I was a child.  It was one of my favorite things to do at Christmas time.  I still love doing that today.  The other night I went out with my camera and took a few pictures of the neighborhood.

I made this one into a Christmas card for you.  The picture really doesn't do it justice.

I love that you can see the Christmas Tree in the window here.

I would hate to have to hang the lights in these peaks .

I love the simplicity of this one

This is a beautiful B&B

Which one is your favorite?

Snowy Red Fence

This fence is the one I posted in the early morning back in September.  You can see it here.
This is what it looks like after our 10 inch snowfall.

Thanks for stopping!  Have a great weekend.
See you next time

We've Got Snow!

Friday we got 2 to 3 inches of snow.  Last night we got about that much more and today the wind in howling and we are having an old fashioned blizzard.  Yesterday morning was nice, no wind, mild tempts, but cloudy skies.  So I went out taking pictures and after 3 hours and 200 pictures later I returned home.  It was very relaxing after the stressful week I had last week.

This is just one of the pictures I took.  It is of the old building I showed you last summer with the wild sunflowers growing in front of it.  Now the sunflower heads are covered with snow.  You can see the picture from last summer here.

I'll be showing more of my snow pictures in the days ahead.
I hope you are all having a great weekend.

Green Day

It snowed on Thanksgiving Day at my daughter's.  She has many beautiful green pine trees around her yard.  It is hard to see the green of the trees with the snow coming down so hard.  It was pretty.  We didn't get any at my place and I'm sure her's was gone in a couple of days.
