Christmas Table Copy Cat

Debbiedoo's is having a magazine copy cat party.  Here are a couple of pictures of what I copied.  They are from BHG Christmas Ideas Magazine.

I chose this because I had everything except the apples.   I had some leftover burlap that I cut in strips and fringed for the table runners.  I had the round mats and red and white dishes.  I used my champagne flutes and a vase with one of my dried hydrangeas.  The greenery I cut from my garden.

I didn't have any grapevine, so I used red dogwood branches around the place setting.

Then I changed out the centerpiece with a cloche and this is what the table looks like.

I think I like this better.  What do you think?

I am joining the Magazine Copy Cat Challenge  at Debbiedoo's
and the Cloche Party at A Stroll Thru Life

I love these parties.  Thanks Debbie and Marty for hosting.  Stop on over and see all the creative ideas you can find on these sites.

Have a great week.

Fall in Chester, NH

While on my vacation in New Hampshire we visited the town of Chester.  Many of the homes and businesses had these great scarecrow people in their yards.  This is only a few of the many we saw.

Bride and groom

Wood cutter

Deer Hunter

Bee Keeper

Who's that with the farmer and his wife?  Cindy how did you get in there?

The Headless Horseman.  Do you see his stick horse?

A family

The Bounty Hunter

At a park in Chester a fisherman is fishing off the covered bridge. Volunteers built this covered bridge over a
waterfall in the park.

The following 3 pictures are of Mike's yard.  His yard is amazing.

That's it for today.  I will be posting more pictures of my vacation in a day or so.

I hope you are all having a great week.

New Hampshire Vacation

My cousin, Janice, from Colorado picked me up and we left for New Hampshire on Tuesday, Oct 11th.  The first day and a half was pretty much driving except for gas, food and sleeping.  Our first real stop was in Sandusky, OH to visit the Marblehead Lighthouse.  It was raining and the Lighthouse wasn't open, but we walked around the grounds and took some pictures.  The lighthouse was built in 1821.

This was the keepers house.

This was the garage.  Look at all the leaves on the ground and the rain drops on the camera lens.

From there we drove to Fireland Winery for some wine tasting.

After a few tastes and a couple of bottles to bring home, we continued on to the Vermillion Lighthouse in Vermillion, OH.  The Lighthouse is an exact replica of one that once stood there.

After spending the night in Vermillion, OH we drove the rest of the way through Ohio and part of New York.  There were a lot of neat old barns along the way that I would have liked to photograph but going 70 mph down the freeway and no place to stop didn't allow for it.  I did get a few later in the trip and will post those later.

The next day we drove the rest of the way through Ohio, along Lake Erie, across the Northwestern corner of Pennsylvania, and on into New York.  There was quite a lot of fall color there but it was so cloudy and rainy that it didn't show up much.  Here are just a couple of pictures at a rest stop in New York.

After spending the night in New York, we continued on to Massachusetts  and New Hampshire.  We had planed to take the scenic route through Vermont but it was raining so hard we decided to stick to the freeway for faster time.  We arrived at Cindy's in New Hampshire mid after noon on Friday, Oct 14th.

Saturday dawned clear and cool so we went to the beach at Hampton, NH.  We stopped to pick up Mike on the way.  This is Mike and Cindy.

Now on to the beach where there were many surfers.

Mike found two buoys on the rocks.  And Cindy found something interesting to photograph.

Then it was time for lunch.  We stopped here first so Cindy could get some fried clams.

Then we drove to this place where everyone said had the biggest and best lobster rolls.

And believe me they were!  This is a foot long lobster roll that Janice and I shared.  We were so full afterwards, but not so full that we couldn't have some of their delicious Almond Joy ice cream.

We had such a good time but it is good to be home.  I've missed all of you and am trying to get caught up on all you've been doing.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

I will be posting more pictures of our trip in a couple of days.

Bachman's Idea House and taking a break

Last week I was able to spend some time at the Bachman's Idea House in Minneapolis.  Bachmans is a nursery, floral company that was started in the late 1800's by the Bauchman family.  The Idea House was the home of the Bachman family for many years.  Now it is decorated four times a year for the four seasons with vintage and recycled items.  Most items in the house are available for sale.  There is so much to see there but I am only going to show you a few of the unique ideas they used.
This is the front of the house as you walk up.

These small watering cans were used above the door for the address.

Inside the front door

Master bedroom

Teen bedroom

Vintage scooters used as shelves in the boys room

Salvaged, repainted dresser with flash cards and building blocks accents.

You can see me in the mirror.

This is an old mail sorter used as an organizer in the kitchen.

Shelves in the living room made of books

Ironing board as a sofa table in the living room

 Fireplace in living room

Burlap drapes on the porch

Inside the garage above and below

Haunted House Shed

That's just a few things you can see at the Bachman's Fall Idea House.  I hope you enjoyed the tour.

I will be taking a break for a couple of weeks as I take a vacation to New Hampshire.  I will be able to check email and  your posts and make comments but will not be posting.  I am hoping that Dell will do a couple of posts.

I appreciate all the loyal followers and everyone's comments and hope you all have a great week.

See you soon.
