This is a photo of Willow Lake Lutheran Church taken last April. It is a rural church which is no longer used for church services but is sometimes used for special occasions. I posted a photo of it in the snow last December.
Beautiful church! It seems that most small rural churches no longer have many in the congregation, which is sad. We seem to be in the age of mega-churches with praise bands and lots and lots of activities.
Beautiful photo Barb. What a sweet country church. It's sad the there are more of them not in use but I guess people can drive further to day than in the older days to get to a city church. Have a great Sunday. We're off to church soon. :)
This looks like it would be such a pretty place for church services. I love the way you captured it - the colors and perspective are great. Happy Sunday, Barb.
sad to hear that they don't use it on a normal basics ... it is too cute. i love it. such character. thanks, for linking up Grandma Barbs. big big hugs. ( : enjoy your sunday.
So much to love about this church and your photo, Barb--the setting, that graceful gothic arch window over the door and the rose window still further up. Also think the simple, but substantial bell tower and steeple is just right for this church.
I love old churches, especially old white rural Lutheran churches. :) I grew up across the road from one, called Carmel Lutheran Church in Ball Bluff Township, MN. Tomorrow I'll return to that church to pay last respects to a dear, dear neighbor and family friend who lived up that same road.
It reminds me of the church that my husband and I were married in, before they 'added on' to it, connecting it by a long (and poorly built) hallway to the modern church area.
The historic building is still in tact, but it's seen it's share of neglect, and isn't even a building in its own right anymore due to all of the add-ons.
There is something about that church that looks like a church should look. Nice photo, friend. Thanks for the compliment on the blossoms in my own little back yard. awh.

Truly a heritage. Beautiful! Your capture is wonderful.
Your church is a fine classic looking building. Too bad some group can't use it for a start-up church. Fine image for the new meme.
