One Last Barn...

for Tricia's Barn Charm.  It was when I found Barn Charm that my blog really started to take off.  I hadn't really figured out my real love of blogging until then.  Now Barn Charm is coming to an end so here is one last barn photo for that meme.  Don't believe for a minute though that I will quite posting barns on my blog!

Here's to you Tricia.  Thanks so much for hosting this meme for the last 3 years. I only wish I had found you  when you first started it.  Sad to see it go.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week and a wonderful October!

See you next time!

September

I first heard the poem "September" by Helen Hunt Jackson when I was in first grade.  I love these first 4 lines and they are the only ones I remember.

The golden-rod is yellow

The corn is turning brown

The trees in apple orchards
with fruit are bending down

 By all these lovely tokens
 September days are here,
       With summer's best of weather,
 And autumn's best of cheer.

September my favorite month and it's almost gone

You can read the whole poem here

Leaving you with a sunset on the prairie.

Barn Charm and a Rainbow

I showed you a picture of the rainbow the other day.  Here are a couple more.  On one side of the road the cows were grazing in the field.

On the other side of the road is a barn.  You can't see the double rain bow in these photos.  But, can you see the wind tower over the shed in the right hand of the photo? There were several along there.  I just didn't get them in the picture.

Random 5 Friday

I am joining Nancy at her Random 5 Friday  meme with a list of things that have been keeping me on the run.

1.  Yesterday I took my friend that has Parkinson's to Sioux Falls for a doctors appointment.  It was raining on the way home but the sun was shining behind us and we saw this beautiful full rainbow.  In fact it was a double rainbow which you cane barely see.

2.  Last Sunday I went to my daughter's in Waconia as I had a doctors appointment in Minneapolis.  It was just a follow-up and everything is fine.

3.  While I was in Minneapolis, I met 2 friends for lunch an then we toured the Bachman Idea House.  I will show some pictures of that later.

4.  Two days a week I am driving to Marshall (22 miles each way) for swimming at the Y.  One day a week I am taking a water color painting class at the collage there.

5. One evening last week I locked myself out of the house.  Good grief.  (This is what happens when you get old).  I had taken the extra key out of it's hiding place for some reason and hadn't returned it.  Thank God for good neighbors.  He came over and cut the screen off the bathroom window and his wife climbed in and unlocked the door.  I wish I had taken a picture of that.  :0)

With all that running around I am not getting much of anything done here at home.  But I'm having fun!

Stop by over at Nancy's to see all the Randomness.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great weekend and I'll see you next time!

Favorite Barns

I am joining Vee's Note card party by showing you 4 of my favorite barn photos.  I have shared all of them on my blog previously.

The first 3 are right in the area and the 4th is in Wyoming with the Teton Mountains in the background.

Thank you all for your nice comments on my humming bird photos.  I'm sorry I have not been able to visit all of you.  I have been away from my computer for 3 days and will be gone later today and tomorrow.  I will tell you what I've been doing on at Nancy's Random 5 Friday at A Rural Journal.

Stop on over at Vee's September Note Card Party to see all the great photos that would make wonderful note cards.

Thanks for stopping and I'll see you next time!

Little Hummers

I finally got some good shots of the little Hummers.  I had taken down the feeder and replaced it with another feeder when it was so hot.  All that was coming to the Humming bird feeder were flies and wasps.  The other day I noticed a little Hummer flying around that feeder.  So I hung the Humming bird feeder back outside my kitchen window.  Here's the little guy ready to enjoy lunch.

A closer look

There are 4 for sure that are fighting over a spot.  There were 2 feeding here but by the time I snapped  a shot one was flying away.  You had see a little of him at the top of the photo.  The other is watching him leave.

I could stand and watch them all day.  It's especially fun to see the 4 of them fighting over a spot.  They don't seem to want to share.

You all have a wonderful weekend.
I am doing a rain dance.  Hoping some of the rain from Colorado comes our way.  We really need it.

Thanks for stoping and I'll see you next time

Fall and September have crept up on me.  It hasn't exactly felt like Fall with the 90 degree weather we have been having.  The heat wave has finally broken today.  I have been on the go since the 1st of September but finally have a day with nothing planned.  So it is time to get back to posting.  I'll show you a  few quite a few pictures from my vacation visiting the Tall Ships at Duluth.  I'm only going to feature one ship, the Sorlandet.  It is a Norwegian ship and was the largest and most impressive.  We waited in the rain for 2 hours to get  tour it.  There were a couple of friendly guys that shared their umbrellas with us.

A few shots from on board

This shot is from the harbor after it set sail with most of the sails raised.

Here it is on the left with another one of the tall ships and a couple of small sail boats

Hours later when we got back to our motel we could still see the ship far out on the lake from our balcony

You can see more details about the Sorlandet here
