A Bit of Randomness

Friday is the day over at Nancy's for Random 5 Friday, where you can add 5 random facts about you, your day, your kids, your pets, or whatever.

Last Saturday my daughter, her boy friend and my grandson came to help get a few chores done around here.  Here are the 5 biggest ones accomplished..

1.  New storm door on my kitchen door.

2.  Replaced the rotting wood around the garage door with vinal.

3.  Added window well covers to the basement windows.

4.  Put away my lawn furniture.

5.  Cleaned out the gutters.

A few other things  got done but those were the things I really wanted to get done before  winter.

Linking to Random 5 Friday

Earlier I told you I had been to the Bachman Idea House in Minneapolis and promised to show pictures.  Well I have not gotten around to editing them but you can see Linda's pictures over at Itsy Bits and Pieces.
There is so much to see there and Linda always manages to see things that I don't.

Thanks for stopping.  Have a great weekend!
See you next time.

Random 5 Friday

I am joining Nancy at her Random 5 Friday  meme with a list of things that have been keeping me on the run.

1.  Yesterday I took my friend that has Parkinson's to Sioux Falls for a doctors appointment.  It was raining on the way home but the sun was shining behind us and we saw this beautiful full rainbow.  In fact it was a double rainbow which you cane barely see.

2.  Last Sunday I went to my daughter's in Waconia as I had a doctors appointment in Minneapolis.  It was just a follow-up and everything is fine.

3.  While I was in Minneapolis, I met 2 friends for lunch an then we toured the Bachman Idea House.  I will show some pictures of that later.

4.  Two days a week I am driving to Marshall (22 miles each way) for swimming at the Y.  One day a week I am taking a water color painting class at the collage there.

5. One evening last week I locked myself out of the house.  Good grief.  (This is what happens when you get old).  I had taken the extra key out of it's hiding place for some reason and hadn't returned it.  Thank God for good neighbors.  He came over and cut the screen off the bathroom window and his wife climbed in and unlocked the door.  I wish I had taken a picture of that.  :0)

With all that running around I am not getting much of anything done here at home.  But I'm having fun!

Stop by over at Nancy's to see all the Randomness.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great weekend and I'll see you next time!

Bachman Idea House

The sun is shining today and I am going to show a little color  lot of yellow from the Bachman Idea House in Minneapolis which I visited last weekend.  Be aware this post is photo heavy.

Lamp made from flower pots.

The dining room table.

Huge flower arrangement on a pine table.
That is an old gate painted yellow in the background.

The use of a patio table in the kitchen

A lamp made out of a bird cage.  There is burlap woven through the cage and big pearl type beads in the bottom.  The light bulb is very fancy with a silver top.

There is a lamp on each side of the bed.  The headboard is made of a rug rolled on a curtain rod.

The office had lots of birds.  You can see them on top of the curtains.  Even the shelf is a bird shape and there is a bird cage sitting in the corner.  A beautiful yellow bouquet sits on the desk.

The ceiling light is made of grapevines.

The next couple of photos are in the girls room.
Pieces of picket fence are used upside down with grapevines as valances for the curtains.

The desk in the girls room

The back of the chairs in the porch were decorated with ribbons, greenery and spoon rests.

Planters in the porch

Another lamp made from a bird cage.

The window boxes.

These are only a few of the pictures I took, but are my favorites.  You can see a lot more photos from the Bachman House by visiting Linda at Itsy Bits and Pieces.  She did several posts on the house and there are links to them on her blog.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!
I have to go out and shovel snow now.  See you next time.
