Random 5 Friday

It's been a busy week and I'm sorry I haven't gotten around to visit everyone.  Is it really because I've been so busy or am I just getting old(er) and slower?  Anyway here are 5 random things that I've been doing.

1. I finished reading JoAnn Bayne's book "Are We Walking To Alaska?"  It's a true store of her family moving to Alaska when she was a 6 year old girl back in the 50's.  They lived on a fishing boat for several months after moving there and eventually moved to one of the small islands off the coast of Alaska where they had many adventures.  It is a very interesting book and brought back many memories of my childhood in the 50's.  You can check out JoAnn at her website,  Scene Through My Eyes.

2.  Working at least a half hour most days to try and make some headway in my basement.

3.  I have painted a couple of old cupboards and moved all the old bottles and vases that have been scattered around the basement into them.  I'll show pictures of that later.

4.  Spent last weekend with my daughter near the Twin Cities to attend my granddaughter's Show Choir. They are such a lively, spirited group and so fun to watch.

5.  My daughter and grandson came down Wednesday to help me move my booth from one spot to another at the lighting store.  I'll have to show you photos of that later too as I forgot to take my camera.  It's still not all styled but at least everything is moved.

I'm joining Nancy at A Rural Journal where you can see lots of randomness.  You can also join in the fun with your own 5 random thoughts, ideas, fun facts, or whatever.

I hope you had a good week and will enjoy your weekend.  Thanks for all your sweet comments on my note cards.

Until Next Time
Barb

i knew that looked familiar! i've visited her blog before...amazing isn't it how much work you can get done in just a half hour? i learned that from flylady. she says always use a timer. pick a chore you don't like, set the timer for 15 minutes and you'd be surprised by how much you finish, it's true! have a great weekend!!

Sounds like a good read.

You have been busy. I'm tackling our garage a few minutes every day as the temps allow.

Hope you have a nice day!

I'm doing the same thing....cleaning out my basement .... about 1 hr each day!
It doesn't seem so painful that way. LOL
That book sounds very interesting!
Thanks for telling us about it.
Enjoy the weekend.

That book sounds intriguing. I will have to check that out. Thanks! We don't have a basement, but a third garage that's supposed to be a place to store the boat. No boat, so we store stuff. We started cleaning a couple weeks ago then became gripped with cold. Probably not as cold as you, but cold for us! Hope you have a very nice and productive (or relaxing) weekend. :)

You are wise to take the basement in small chunks. I have been cleaning for hours. I really wait far too long and go overboard. best, olive

Sounds like you're keeping busy. As I've gotten older I work much slower too. I wonder how I ever got anything done while I was still working!

Hi Barb, Glad you're still chipping away at the basement. This sounds like a busy week for you. A "spirited" choir sounds like they make some great music together with a lot of verve!

That sounds like a book I'd be interested in, thanks for sharing it. Glad the basement project is coming along.

Your goal has become mine...one day at a time and thirty minutes at a time.

I wish you a very peaceful and nice weekend!

You are way ahead of me, Barb, in the cleaning dept. I think 30 minutes to an hour a day is a good goal and I should make myself do this. Have a nice weekend!

This post made me think 'whew!' - you have energy to spare!

I was wondering how your booth was doing. Truth be told, I could do something similar at an antique mall not too far from here, but I'm wondering how much time I could devote to it.

Sounds like you had a great week, Barb. Books about Alaska have been very popular the last few years. I know a couple of people who have published their own Alaska memoirs. Glad you enjoyed the one you read. Seeing grandchildren perform is always a treat. Hope you had a nice weekend. ~ Nancy
