Country Scenes

Here are a few rural mailboxes I've seen on my travels around the countryside.

Yesterday traveling down the highway I noticed this leaning barn off in the distance.  I had never noticed it before.  Maybe because of the trees.  So I drove down someone's driveway to see if I could get a better look.  There was no road past the barn so I took this picture from my car at the end of their driveway.

I thought about walking down to it, but then I saw this deer hunter in blaze orange sitting in a tree stand and I decided maybe I better not.  I might get shot. I think he is looking at me through his binoculars.  Maybe I'll go back some day and ask the owners if I can walk up and take pictures.

Please stop by to see all things Rural!

Thanks for stopping and have a great day.
Until next time
Barb

The mailboxes are really nice.

I have seen bird houses somewhat like that but not as so detailed. They are great.

I know these are mailboxes. Interesting.

Those are beautiful!

I really love the first mailbox. Are these guys permitted to shoot trespassers?

Good idea to not go out there while the hunters are around! That's always a risk at this time of year...I guess you need one of those orange hats to be safe! We have those issues up here too! November 15th is the start of deer hunting here. We call them the orange brigade...seen all around town suddenly!
It looks like that barn has collapsed. I like your collection of mailbox pictures! I'd love to have something cute but our mailbox gets hit by the county snowplow in the winter and it would break my heart to have a cute one like those damaged!

Be careful of the hunters! You need a bright orange scarf - stylish and safe :-)

Oh my that would definitely keep me away if I saw an orange vested man with a gun. Great capture of that old barn and mailboxes are a stitch!!

those mailboxes are well done! they wouldn't last around here - either kids with baseball bats or folks taking shotgun shots at them...

I never thought of looking at mailboxes when we're out and about...but your photos make me want to see what I can find! The blaze orange would have made me turn around, too lol!

I could live in the first mailbox if my hips would fit. Please don't get shot.

What darling, and creative mailboxes.
Shoot... now, I wish we could have a mailbox, but alas... we have to go down to the post office each day to get the mail from our P.O. boxes.

What a great barn that once was!!
Glad you noticed the hunter in time to avert disaster also.

Enjoy this day!!

Hi Barb, I just love the cute mailboxes. The barn is a great find, too bad about the hunter. Have a great day!

I love that first mailbox with the stone fireplace. Now that's pretty clever. It's deer season here too so I stay out of the woods during this time of the year!

Glad the hunter had you in his view, so he wouldn't mistake you for a deer if you got out of the car...but it was still probably best not to get out. :-) Oh, I LOVE the mailboxes! That first one particularly is just wonderful!

I love that first mailbox, complete with a water pump. So cute. Good thing you got away from that hunter, sometimes they get carried away and if a deer ran between you and him, sheesh, I don't even want to think about it. Last year we had a hunter shoot a school bus near here. A deer ran between him and the bus on the road. Can't wait to see your closer pictures, after hunting season. :)

I think the hunter is looking at you through binoculars. Be careful!

Those mailboxes are adorable -- and maybe you should start wearing some blaze orange until after deer season is over. :)

Hi Barb,

I love those mailboxes.

The boxes here are really boring
either plain black (like mine)
or green.

The ones you photographed were so pretty and unusual.

Happy weekend.

Love this post. The mailboxes in your neck of the woods sure beat the standard old stuff in suburbia. The barn is a beauty (as are all of your barn shots) and the hunter is quite an interesting shot. Not sure I've ever come across a hunter on my wanderings.
