Barn and House of 7 Gables

Saturday was a beautiful, sunshiny day after our 3 or 4 inch snowfall on Friday.  I just had to get out and take some photos.  This farm sits at the edge of a lake.  The house is known as the house of 7  gables.  A classmate of mine used to lived there and when we were in high school some of us would have picnics in the pasture and swim in the lake.  I don't know who lives there now, so I didn't want to drive up the driveway.

I have been spending lots of time with my mom at the nursing home.  She was the best today as she has been in 2 weeks.  However with spending so much time with  her I am way behind on  commenting and editing photos.  And I am just plain tired, so I will be taking the rest of the week off for a little blog break.  Have a great week!  Until next time.

Barb

Enjoy your break, Barb. You're a good daughter. Love your house of 7 gables. It's so nice to have memories of it as a teen. The barn is interesting, too. The windows are all so low to the ground. Love the fields with the tufts of dry grass sticking out of the snow. Hugs to you. xx

Dearest Barb,
Very lovely barn in the winter scene.
Please take a plenty of time resting and having time with your mother. My father doesn't recognize me any more, but I love his smile when I try to make him laugh.

Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

I've been taking the time off the last couple weeks to. But it's because I've been so busy with work I haven't had much time. I miss my blogger friends. See you when you get back!

I take it that the name of the house is a reference to Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel "The House of the Seven Gables". I'd be hard pressed to tell you the story line now, but I know I read it a few decades ago.

Have a good break; you deserve one, Barb.

A well-deserved break! I know how hard it is on someone taking care of an elderly parent, so please know we all understand about your commenting. Not to worry! Love the barn, but the house is especially neat!

oh barb, it is wonderful to hear that your mom is doing better!! You are spending your time wisely, there is nothing more important then keeping your mom company and making sure she is happy and well cared for!

I am behind and all over the place as well. Your barns are so charming, pretty shade of red on the cute little one!
