Grandma Barb’s This and That

Random 5 Friday

I am joining Nancy at her Random 5 Friday  meme with a list of things that have been keeping me on the run.

1.  Yesterday I took my friend that has Parkinson's to Sioux Falls for a doctors appointment.  It was raining on the way home but the sun was shining behind us and we saw this beautiful full rainbow.  In fact it was a double rainbow which you cane barely see.

2.  Last Sunday I went to my daughter's in Waconia as I had a doctors appointment in Minneapolis.  It was just a follow-up and everything is fine.

3.  While I was in Minneapolis, I met 2 friends for lunch an then we toured the Bachman Idea House.  I will show some pictures of that later.

4.  Two days a week I am driving to Marshall (22 miles each way) for swimming at the Y.  One day a week I am taking a water color painting class at the collage there.

5. One evening last week I locked myself out of the house.  Good grief.  (This is what happens when you get old).  I had taken the extra key out of it's hiding place for some reason and hadn't returned it.  Thank God for good neighbors.  He came over and cut the screen off the bathroom window and his wife climbed in and unlocked the door.  I wish I had taken a picture of that.  :0)

With all that running around I am not getting much of anything done here at home.  But I'm having fun!

Stop by over at Nancy's to see all the Randomness.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great weekend and I'll see you next time!

Barb

Interesting 5! It has been a long time since I locked myself out of the house...but for some reason I have been thinking about it. I was young enough last time to climb in the bathroom window!

Forgot to say that sure is a beautiful rainbow.

Good grief, you have been busy! I'm paranoid about locking myself out of the house (especially in winter), and have a habit of double checking keys and cellphone. Of course there is the odd occasion that I forget to check the keys and cellphone. LOL

You are a kind person to bring your friend, I'm glad everything went well with your appointment. I would love to have seen your neighbor climbing in the window ;)

Well I'm glad you are able to smile and have fun, even with locking yourself out. I'd like to see the neighbor climbing in the window - but I bet she wouldn't like it.

How fortunate your friend is to have to drive her, and a wonderful rainbow too.

What a gorgeous rainbow photo. We just hid a spare key outside our home for that very reason! Have a good weekend.

So nice to hear you are enjoying yourself and getting out and about Barb -- I really need to do more of that. xo

You sound very busy. I love the rainbow, which I think is a fitting payment to you for taking your friend to the doctor.

I'm sorry I laughed when I read you locked yourself out. It sounds like something I would do. Really.

Hi Barb - what a hopeful photo! Oh, no - I haven't locked myself out for a long time (esp. since we put a keypad opener on the garage door)! My daughter has recently received a job offer in MN - she may be moving.

Awesome rainbow shot! The light in this is gorgeous.
Running around while having fun is the most important reason to run around. Things around the house can wait. :)
Hope you'll share your watercolors with us.

Great rainbow shot. You're making me feel bad. I'm less than 2 miles from my gym and haven't been to water aerobics for a year and half now. Good for year. Painting lessons sound fun too.

Oh I forgot to say that Chocolate Cosmos are one of my favorite flowers and when you crush or rub the flower petal it smell faintly of Chocolate. Specially if they have been in the warm sun. MB

Isn't locking yourself out a pain! One time I locked myself out of my car and a police officer charged me $75 to unlock it! And that is when I was 21 years old. Glad your doctor appt went well....and I TOTALLY see the double rainbow....I always check if there's more than one! God's goodness may be faint to some, non-existent in other's eyes, but it's always in the shadows there to me!

Oh Barb you are so fun! So sorry you locked yourself out of your home. All the good doing and fun you had, that shouldn't have happened. Yes, that scarf is huge and crazy, huh. Thanks for the compliment on the hair style/cut thing I've got going on.

Fun as you grow older (ie more mature) is definitely important. I think it is great that you are swimming and taking classes. And how sweet that you are able to take your friend in need. Be sure to put that spare key back...it might mean a broken window next time!!
