On my way to my daughter's, I spied this barn with the bright barn quilt. The quilt looks new and really stands out on this old barn. The barn sure can use a paint job.
My mom has a quilt made with this pattern. I believe it is called flower garden.
You've introduced me to barn quilts with some previous photos and I decided to look up whether there are barn quilts in my province. It seems there are some. I may have to go on a little trip this spring or summer!
What a bright splash of color on an otherwise gray day! I always think that if they're going to the trouble to put up a quilt square that they will take care of the barn.
What a lovely barn that is and the quilt just pops right out at you.. I agree the barn could use a coat but the more I look at it the more I wonder if it's charm isn't in it's shabbiness.. Robyn :)
It could use some paint, but I really like the intensity of the saturated hues of the quilt against the weathered wood of the barn. Makes for a nice contrast!
Hey Barb, thanks for visiting and following my blog! I love New England as well, we live in NH but I must confess I love Maine the most, lol! I love those photos of that barn with the quilt and yes you are right - well, almost, the pattern is called grandmother's flower garden. :D Looking forward to many more visits... Hugs, Beth P

is so pretty against the gray...a picture, perfect, country postcard.
I love the quilt square on the barn - it must make a really beautiful quilt!
Great find, Barb! As a quilter, I really like this one!
A paint job would help preserve the wood but I do like the peeling paint look.
Love the quilt square!!
so lovely!!!
I wonder where the decoration of barns with quilt patterns started. They sure do dress up a barn!
It's so bright and pretty against the white paint and snow! Beautiful! xx

Noteworthy Musings
It is interesting that they would put that pretty new quilt square on that old barn...maybe they were just trying to dress her up a little......
It is a flower garden pattern and I have one that my grandmother made many years ago...
Love that quilt. Maybe adding the quilt was less expensive than painting the barn :)
