Before
If you like shabby it doesn't look too bad here. But a close up shows what a horrible job of painting someone had done. The paint was thick and globbie in spots.
So I sanded it and because I liked the looks of it I gave it 2 coats of antique white by Benjamin Moore that I had left over from painting my bedroom. Then I gave it 2 coats of Minwax past wax and distressed it. From the pictures of the before and after, you can't tell much of a difference, but the paint is much smoother and it looks much fresher.

Hi Barb...I love this desk, FREE is even better. Thanks for sharing with my newbie party.
It looks great.
Well done on your work.
Fiona
It def looks more professional and cleaned up now! I always like the distressing part. Why is it that taking off paint always makes it look better?? :) . Andrea @ townand prairie
wonderful job, Barb!
It looks great, Barb, and you sure can't beat the price. That's my kind of project!
Looks fantastic! I much prefer the look of the natural top, and you can't beat free. You did a wonderful job! Thanks for sharing.
I'm hosting my monthly Before Blogging Throwback Thursdays party, and would love for you to come show off something you bought, did, or created Before Blogging. Can't wait to see what you bring to the party.
That's a very sweet style of a desk. And it does look a lot better now. I especially like the stained top!
Can't beat free. And, she's a beauty now. Found you via Beyond the Picket Fence. Pop on over for a visit when you get a moment. Tootles, Kathryn
