Grandma Barb’s This and That

Rurality Blog Hop

When I posted about the life of a bean field, I forgot one important and expensive step in the process.  That is spraying of the fields to get rid of the weeds.  Either the farmer does it with a tractor and sprayer like in the photo below.

Source Internet

Or they hire a crop dusting plane.

While I was out taking photos of this old barn the crop duster was buzzing around spraying a nearby bean field.  He was flying so fast that it was hard to get a photo of him.

After many tries, I finally got a photo of him coming down to spray the field.  They fly so low that it is scary. No, that is not the bean field in the foreground.

I have decided that I am making cleaning this dirty house a priority so I won't be posting and commenting as much for the next few weeks.  I will visit you all when I can.  I may or may not comment.  I am also getting things ready to decorate my space at the lighting store for Christmas.  Thanks to all my faithful and new followers for all your visits and nice comments.  They make my day.

Until next time
Barb

These are great shots in the life of a field! Best of luck with the cleaning - that is something I really should be doing, too :-/

Great shots, Barb! I love the little plane.

I understand the prioritizing.. it's been hard for me to keep up with all the posts I want to share & bogs I want to read lately.
On top of all the busy activity that fall brings,
I spent the other night in the hospital, photographing the arrival of a beautiful baby boy. It was a huge, moving experience for me. And set me back a bit on rest & laundry & things with my own kids! :)
I just shared about the experience. I hope when you are caught up & have time you can read it.
(It's really sinking in for me that the holidays are RIGHT around the corner. Once Halloween parties are done tomorrow, we have a son's birthday in a week, and twin sons' birthdays the following week, and then it's right on to Thanksgiving!)

Good luck with the cleaning!

What a great series, Barb. And how could anyone say that blogging and Facebook is a waste of time? I learn so much and meet such interesting, creative people. Good luck with your great CLEANING. I should do that too but will probably just read. See you down the road.

Great timing on the crop duster!!

It's a good time of year to do a deep cleaning. I don't mind cleaning, I find listening to upbeat music really helps!!

Lovely shots Barb!
I think you did a great job capturing the duster and how awesome the field color and the sky are so perfect with the plane. Very frame worthy!
Hope you have a productive break.

I see your crop duster is yellow...I need to look that up and see if they are required by law to be yellow. That is all I ever see around is ones that are yellow.

(Want to come clean my house? Or help me and I will help you...we could be called the Cleaning Grannies.LOL)

Don't overdo it, Barb. The house will always be there, regardless. Just enjoy the Fall and have fun.

Wonderful captures, Barb! Love the little plane. Once a yellow plane flew over when my Hubby and I were outside and Hubby pointed and said, 'It's Yellow' in such a goofy way that whenever we see anything yellow now, we point and yell, 'It's Yellow!'
I love a good housecleaning session, you feel so good afterwards. Hurry back! Hugs xoxo Karen

You did a great job capturing the crop dusting! It really is hard to keep up with all the blogs you want to and still have time to do all the other things your life demands. No need to apologize for prioritizing!

Hi Barb, You sure captured the crop duster plane well with your camera. So much goes into this career of work before the final products go to market.

I want to say, have fun cleaning, but probably not!! LOL You have inspired me because I need to do the same thing before decorating for Christmas. Or maybe I should wait till after to do the big cleanup when putting all away. LOL
LOL
Oh well, I guess I would rather paint! LOL
Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping by and your sweet comment.
Hugs and Blessings.

Some of these crop dusters must have nerves of steel!

Did not go to the horse race - not really my idea of fun - but I'll gladly take the day off!

Crop dusting is a VERY dangerous job due to electrical lines they sometimes have to dodge. Great shots!

Great pics Barb. Getting a pic of a fast moving thing is not easy. When I move the camera it comes out blurred. You did great to catch those 2 planes. Like the pic of the barn too. Will miss you while you are busy.
