Little Hummers

I finally got some good shots of the little Hummers.  I had taken down the feeder and replaced it with another feeder when it was so hot.  All that was coming to the Humming bird feeder were flies and wasps.  The other day I noticed a little Hummer flying around that feeder.  So I hung the Humming bird feeder back outside my kitchen window.  Here's the little guy ready to enjoy lunch.

A closer look

There are 4 for sure that are fighting over a spot.  There were 2 feeding here but by the time I snapped  a shot one was flying away.  You had see a little of him at the top of the photo.  The other is watching him leave.

I could stand and watch them all day.  It's especially fun to see the 4 of them fighting over a spot.  They don't seem to want to share.

You all have a wonderful weekend.
I am doing a rain dance.  Hoping some of the rain from Colorado comes our way.  We really need it.

Thanks for stoping and I'll see you next time
Barb

I love sitting and quietly watching the hummers. They can be a challenge to capture on camera sometimes!

I love watching them, took. I think mine have all gone - haven't seen any for a couple of weeks. I can't put a feeder out because of the bears, but they love some of my perennials. Great pics, Barb.

Great shots, Barb! I can never get good shots of hummingbirds around here. They are hard to photograph!

Hope you get some rain soon. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

how lovely Barb'. It's a shame when other 'things' bother a potential offering and your generosity. Hopefully the hummers stick around a while longer to enjoy; they're such a beautiful bird to see

Not easy to capture hummingbirds as well as you have! The only opportunity I have had to see them they were much too quick and gone even faster!

Fantastic shots Barb! I saw our lone hummer yesterday... I believe he's getting ready to move on to warmer climates soon.

Wow, hummingbirds seem to be an elusive treasure for me to photograph....apparently I am the antithesis of the "Hummingbird Whisperer" as they avoid me like the plague as much as I try otherwise. They are such beautiful creatures, and you have photographed them fantastically!

Lovely shots. What amazing little creatures they are!

You did get some good shots of them. They are selfish little creatures.

Barb, you got some really beautiful photos of the hummingbirds. They have left here last Monday with the setting sun I think as they were around all that day then gone the next. I haven't seen one since. Kind of sad. They do fight a lot and often don't share even though there are 4 ports on the feeders. They are so fun to watch so I'll miss them until next May. Have a great week Barb! Hugs, Pam

There are always a few hummers that stay around for the winter, so we leave our feeders out year-round. They are such incredible little creatures, aren't they?

You got some great hummingbird photos, Barb. I can really see the detail.

Great shots, Barb! I love the hummers, but I've only seen a very few this year. I didn't get my feeder up this season. We've had so many kittens running around in the yard so that has been a factor, I'm sure.

Splendid close ups of these dear little characters.

I hate it when the wasps think the feeder is theirs! You got some great shots of this little hummer.

JOY @ http://joysjotsshots.blogspot.com/ said...

Same thing happened here. Only the wasps and butterflies used the feeder. Then I changed the water with some I'd saved in the frig from the last batch and here they came. I think I only have 2 and they don't like to share. I've got almost the identical shots, but not as clear as yours. enJOYed getting up close.

I just love them & could watch them all day, too. ☺

Wow, those are great shots, Barb! I miss my hummers--have only seen a couple this year. I am not sure if they have not been here...I have been working 9-10 hour days, so maybe they were here and I just missed them.

Our hummers are still with us though the butterflies appear to be gone. How we adore our hummingbirds. Buddy calls all of them Hector and Hector's Extended Family. We have feeders all over the place and do they get upset when we have to take one down to clean and refill it. Lovely shot. genie
