Grandma Barb’s This and That

September

I first heard the poem "September" by Helen Hunt Jackson when I was in first grade.  I love these first 4 lines and they are the only ones I remember.

The golden-rod is yellow

The corn is turning brown

The trees in apple orchards
with fruit are bending down

 By all these lovely tokens
 September days are here,
       With summer's best of weather,
 And autumn's best of cheer.

September my favorite month and it's almost gone

You can read the whole poem here

Leaving you with a sunset on the prairie.

Thanks for stopping  by.  Have a wonderful day and I'll see you next time.

What a nice way to express the poem! Your images are beautiful! September is my favorite month, also - I'll be sad to see it go, but October is generally pretty nice, too.

Beautiful! I love September too, but it's usually really busy with canning. I hate to see September go, but I like October even more. :-)

I never read this poem and I love it. Yes, September is soon will be over. Today is so chilly where I live and it's raining hard. I look at your pictures and they are so colorful and very beautiful.

And the last picture with sunset made me long for summer! it's amazing.
