I've made a decision

I've been feeling pretty stressed lately as I've gotten so far behind on everything.  My house desperately needs cleaning, I need to go through my mom's things, plus I have a garage and basement full of stuff that I have been picking up from garage sales, etc.  Lots of stuff to repurpose for my space I rented at Ade's Attic. So I have made the decision to take an extended blog break.  The decision was hard to make as I will miss all of you but if I'm to get anything done it is necessary.  I will stop by to see what you are all up to once in awhile but may not comment.  I will be back sooner or later though.

I'll leave you with a couple of pictures from my gardens.

I'll See You In September (remember that song).  It probably won't be that long though because I'll never be able to stay away that long!

Backyard Daylilies

My Daylilies have started to bloom in the back yard.  I love the orange ones.

Mom's bits of wisdom

Today I'm going to share some of my mom's famous sayings.

1).  "Work is the greatest thing in the world, save some for tomorrow".  I am very good at this.  So yesterday I took the day off to go to a garden tour with 2 friends.  One of the reason I didn't get around to visit you yesterday. This was my favorite place on the tour.  I'll share more photos later.

2).  "Live a long life but never grow old".  Maybe that's why this 40 year old  in this 70 year old body doesn't get much done in a day either.

3).  "Remember, you are not fully dressed until you put on a smile".  I always put on my smile as soon as I put on my bathing suit in the morning.  :0)  No I'm not showing you that,

4).  "Worry is putting today's sun behind tomorrows clouds".  I need to work on this one.  Sometimes I worry too much.

5).  If you love something, set it free.  If it come back to you  it is meant to be".  She told that to one of my daughters many years ago when she broke up with her boyfriend.  They will be celebrating their 29th anniversary in a couple of months.

Well  there you have it.  Bits of wisdom from my mom who lived to be 96 but never grew old.

Yard Birds

The other day I caught this robin gathering stuff to make her second nest of the season.  She really had her mouth full.  I couldn't believe she could carry that much. These were taken through my screen door so they aren't the best quality.

I have several morning doves coming to my yard but this one is a lot lighter in color than the rest. And of course a grackle had to get in the act.

Up date.  TexWisGirl identified this dove as a eurasian collared-dove.  It has a different coo that you can hear here

Abandoned Farm

While I was out looking for the country church a couple of weeks ago, I came across this abandoned farm site.

Five Random Facts on Friday

1.  The weather in Minnesota has been beautiful for the last several days.  Today is starting to get hotter and higher humidity.

2.  My roses have been loving this weather.  They are going wild this year. You can hardly see the old bike.

3.  My cherry tomato plant is starting to produce some ripe tomatoes.  I ate these 2 the other day.

4.  Many of you start the day sitting in your gardens with a cup of coffee.  I'm not a morning person but I get up and go to water aerobics to get me going in the morning. It feels wonderful when I'm done,

I know I already posted this picture once

5.  I end the day sitting in the back yard in my chippy old rocking chair with a magazine and a glass of wine.

The Breezy Point Barn

Remember this beautiful barn I posted last winter?

Here it is again from a different angle with the evening sun was shining on it.  The barn has been purchased and updated with a new kitchen so they will be able to serve food.  There are plans to do something with the upstairs soon.  I need to get back there and stop in for a bite to eat.

A little closer view.
