Grandma Barb’s This and That

More early morning shots on my way home from my sleep study.  I really think I need to get up early more often, don't you.

The sun peeking over the barn roof on a winter morning.

The sun as it peeks over the cattle shed.

Many of you asked about the number on the horse in my last post.  I tried doing a little research but didn't come up with any information.

They are predicting freezing rain for tomorrow.  I hate ice.  I would rather have a snowstorm any day.

Thanks for stopping!  Have a sunny Sunday and the rest of the week.

Until next time.

I love to get up for the sunrise, and do so several times a week. I think that my favourite moment is the one before dawn, when the stars are still out and the world is expectant.

Lovely shots! It's so pretty when the sun is shining through like that. Hope you don't get too much ice! I'm with you - snow over ice any day!

Amazing sunrise over that snow-covered barn Barb. :)

Beautiful shots! In Dutch we have a saying "de morgenstond heeft goud in de mond", meaning as much as that early mornings are the best part of the day.
Have a great Sunday, Barb.

Perfect shots! Brr... This reminds me of the days when my husbands family was still running their dairy farm. Not much fun in the winter to get up early and milk cows! I hate ice too! Hope it won't be too bad in your area!

Hi Barb, I am a first time visitor who stopped in from away for the weekend blog. This shot of horses is similar to some scenes in the area we now live, VA eastern shore, also in a small town (pop under 500). Like yourself, I also enjoy photography and always have a small digital camera with me. Feel free to drop onto our blog for a visit anytime as we enjoy and appreciate back door company the best.
By the way, where did you visit on your NH trip as. Are hoping to relocate there once we sell this house. Our grandkids live in RI which would be much closer than our now 10 hr trip...and we are not native southern folk and do miss winter snow as in our native NJ...we recently got some here, but 1 inch is not a snowfall to us.

Gorgeous shots Barb! I don't like ice either. We're to get rain mid-week, so they say. :)

Beautiful photos. The snow here in Lincolnshire, England has just melted and the colours have finally returned. Take care. Chel

Such an early morning peaceful look when time seems to stand still before the activity of the day.
I detest freezing rain, so dangerous to drive and walk in. Hope it snows for you instead.

So that's what early morning looks like ;-) I always miss it. On weekends I sleep right through, and on weekdays, I'm most likely in the shower. Beautiful shots - someday I'm going to get outside at that time!

What a lovely blanketing of snow.

Very pastoral scenes...they would make a lovely painting. (I don't like ice storms either.)

Faye said...

Just for these beautiful sunrise photos, hope you don't have to wear one of those dreaded sleep masks?

Love these early morning shots where the camera chats with the sun.

Faye said...

Barb, I went back and read your "light at end of tunnel" so disregard my kind of flip question about needing sleep mask. It sounds like you've been through some tiresome (no pun intended)times in resolving some health issues. Hope you're finding solutions to them. Take care. Sometimes we women get so busy taking care of everyone else and end up in a fragile condition ourselves.

Your picture looks like there should be a rooster crowing and a bowl of Kelloggs Corn Flakes sitting on the breakfast table. I guess I watched tv too much when I was young. :) Very pretty indeed...and worth gettin up for, for sure!

Well worth getting up early if you get shots like this! Of course, wintertime here you don't have to get up early at all to catch sunrise shots.....

Hi Barb, over from Sunlit Sunday. Your photos are great. I am not an early riser anymore since I love to stay up late reading or watching a movie on my Kindle. It has warmed up here in Central Ky. and we have just missed some snow but we know it will be here some time. Blessings to you and yours this week.
