When I posted about the life of a bean field, I forgot one important and expensive step in the process.  That is spraying of the fields to get rid of the weeds.  Either the farmer does it with a tractor and sprayer like in the photo below.

Or they hire a crop dusting plane.

While I was out taking photos of this old barn the crop duster was buzzing around spraying a nearby bean field.  He was flying so fast that it was hard to get a photo of him.

After many tries, I finally got a photo of him coming down to spray the field.  They fly so low that it is scary. No, that is not the bean field in the foreground.

It wouldn't be Monday without a picture of a barn.  This barn is located near Mille Lacs Lake in central Minnesota north of the Twin Cities.

I had taken my friend, Eugene, to see his grandson play football in Onamia on Friday evening.  Then we planned to go on to Duluth on Saturday to see the fall colors on the North Shore of Lake Superior.  The trip didn't go quite as planned.  The weather in Duluth was miserable...rain, fog, wind, and cold.  So we called our grandkids that are attending college at the U of M Duluth and had them meet us at Grandma's Restaurant down by the lake.  We spent a nice couple of hours with them visiting and having lunch .  Since you could barely see the lake we decided to return to Onamia.  We did see some pretty colors near Onamia and Mille Lacs Lake though.  So it turned out to be a nice weekend in spite of the weather.

Since I was gone over the weekend, I didn't get around to visit all of you.  Am trying to get caught up today.

Barn Charm and a Rainbow

I showed you a picture of the rainbow the other day.  Here are a couple more.  On one side of the road the cows were grazing in the field.

On the other side of the road is a barn.  You can't see the double rain bow in these photos.  But, can you see the wind tower over the shed in the right hand of the photo? There were several along there.  I just didn't get them in the picture.

Foggy morning

This  morning I had to go  to the next town over to get a hair cut and it was really foggy.  I love taking pictures of fog so when I drove by this barn I had to stop and take a photo to share at barn charm.

We had a little rain last night and now they are saying we could get quite a bit of snow on Wednesday.  When will winter ever end.

I'm not sure if I will be posting any more this week or how much I will make it around to visit.  I have a really busy week.  But I will stop by if I have time and I will be thinking of all of you.

Barn with a different purpose

While I was on my way to my daughter's, I spied a big barn.  As I slowed down to take a picture, I saw a sign saying "Barn Sale Today"  Yay, a barn sale!  So I pulled in.

The barn is used for an occasional sale the last weekend of every month.  They had all kinds of goodies from farm theme items to furniture and everything in between.  Each month they redo the whole barn with new and different things. I bought an old Brownie Box Camera which I have been looking for for awhile.

As I was leaving I stopped to take a picture of the old rusty truck at the end of the driveway.  There was a car coming out behind me so this is as good as I could get it.

Barn, Mules and a Giveaway

Some friends of mine have been fixing up their barn.  They have given it a new roof, painted it, and repaired the foundation.  I stopped by one day last week to get some photos.

They also have 5 mules that they ride and a wagon that they use to give rides.

Below are 4 8x10 photos that I have matted to fit 11x14 frames.  I will be giving one of them away. I promised a giveaway a few weeks back and I have been waiting for them to be matted.  February was my birthday, my 2 year blogversary, and I reached 200 followers.  All good reasons for a giveaway.     These pictures did not turn out the best as the light in the house wasn't very good.  The first 2 are matted with a pale yellow mat that matches the sun.

The last one is matted with a dark charcoal gray.  I laid a white frame over it so there was some contrast between the matt and the black paper I was using to photograph it on.

One more early morning picture

Good morning everyone.  At least it's still morning here.  Sorry I haven't been around to visit the last few days.  I've been busy getting mom settled in her new apartment.  I moved her to her apartment from the nursing home on Friday and have been spending time with her while she gets settled in.  Last night I went to a fun Super Bowl Party.

They are predicting freezing rain for tomorrow.  I hate ice.  I would rather have a snowstorm any day.

Barn Charm Gone

This farm has been in my friend, Eugene's, family for 3 generations.  His son and daughter-in-law are farming it now.  It's a beautiful place where they raise cattle, corn, and soybeans.

The whole looks of the place was changed New Years night when the barn burned to the ground.  So sad.     Thank God there were no cattle in the barn so no animals were hurt.  They think is was an electrical fire that started in the haymow.  I am so happy that I got these photos last summer.

Friday Fences

Thank you all for your concern, well wishes, and prayers for my mom.  I got her moved to the nursing home today.  I wish I could say she is resting comfortably but she has a lot of pain when she moves.

Beauty of a Barn

It was a very busy Thanksgiving and weekend.  I was on the go for 4 days and today I am trying to catch up and rest up.  Sorry I haven't gotten around to visit much but will try to catch up in the next few days.

This beauty of a barn is located on a farm site and has been in the same family for about 100 years.  The family that lives here does not farm the land but they do a beautiful job of keeping up the place.

These pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago.  I love the shadows of the trees on the side of the barn and the silo.

Century Farm

This barn is part of a century farm...meaning the farm has been in the same family for 100 years or more.  A friend of mine and her husband bought it after her grandfather died and no one else in the family wanted it.  She and her husband are keeping it up and using it for weekend getaways and family gatherings.  I took these pictures several years ago one evening when I went to visit them.

I had a busy weekend and put 477 miles on the car.  I took my friend who has Parkinson's to his daughter's in Onamia on Friday to see his grandsons play football.  They lost their game.  The first one they have lost all year.  Then on Saturday we went to the University of Minnesota football game.  They lost too.  On Sunday  I watched the Minnesota Vikings and they lost too.  So much for watching football all weekend.  What did you do this weekend?
