Barn Charm Gone

This farm has been in my friend, Eugene's, family for 3 generations.  His son and daughter-in-law are farming it now.  It's a beautiful place where they raise cattle, corn, and soybeans.

First is the farm house with a big wrap around porch built in 1930

A little out building

The barn built in 1938

2 of the Silos

Another photo of the barn with the silos

The whole looks of the place was changed New Years night when the barn burned to the ground.  So sad.     Thank God there were no cattle in the barn so no animals were hurt.  They think is was an electrical fire that started in the haymow.  I am so happy that I got these photos last summer.

Thanks for stopping and have a great week.

Until next time

Oh no...I was admiring all of the lovely pics and then read about the fire...thank goodness no animals were harmed. I am sure they will re-build a fine looking new barn, but what a loss.

So afraid of fire, especially in the wintertime. I wonder if the owners have photos as good as these of their barn? If not, but they'd like to have copies.

My mouth dropped open when I read it burnt down. I really want to cry for them. Such a sad loss.
It was a beautiful barn and those silos and their checkered trim are really unique.
Do they have plans to rebuild?

How un-fortunate, and sad for the family.
What a blessing that no persons, nor animals were harmed.
Hope that they are able to re-build.

They have a lovely farm, and I adore that Farmhouse :)

So sad indeed. My paternal grandparents entire farm...barns, silos, house burned to the ground by an arsonist. The arsonist was the owner who purchased the property after my gramma died..to get the insurance money, cause he cold not afford it. Glad you were able to take the pics. Janice

Barb! Yes! What name do you want to name your camera? Yes, name it.

Thanks for your kind words, too. It has been the gutsiest thing I have done. (to put myself on my blog in my deals) Whew. Still a bit scary.

Hi Barb, Thanks so much for stopping in at Cranberry Morning! I am so sad to hear about the loss of the barn. They must have been just sick over it. But I am glad no cattle were in it.

That front porch is exactly what I am looking for as we are thinking of adding a front porch to our house later in the year. That's a beauty.

What a tragic loss. Your friends' children must be devastated. This is not a time when farmers can afford such loses!

But I have to tell you, those Silos are pretty darn spectacular!

The barn is beautiful, I love that it's red. I grew up with a giant green barn I always wanted a red one! Beautiful land!
