September
by Helen Hunt Jackson
The golden-rod is yellow
The corn is turning brown
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down.
I learned this poem way back in grade school. We used to take field trips in the fall down to the river...about a mile from the school. On the way we would see the golden rod in the ditch and the corn in the fields. I always loved those trips.
That is as much of the poem as I can remember. But I always think of it in September.
A few more pictures of Fall.

I hope you are all having a good September so far. I am loving this cooler, drier weather. It helps my breathing.
Thanks for stopping. See you next time.

You've captured Fall well!
Pretty photos on your header, as well as in the post :-)
Beautiful photos! Love the shots of the pears and cattails!
Why do they call them ears of corn? Because stick out like ears on our heads? Great pics.
Great shots of the growing things...love the exploding shot!
I love fall too, but as much as I love the goldenrod, it doesn't like my allergies. Love your photos, Barb. :)

Barb, great group of shots. I especially like the last two.
Wishing you a pleasant fall with more chances to get out and about. My husband can't take the heat and it seems like ages since we have ventured out together.
Beautiful pictures, and a great little poem; I need to remember that.
I actually planted some golden rod next to the barn.
It's doing nicely, and I hope it really takes off next year.
I am loving these cooler nights, and temperate days.
Bring on Fall!

Hi, Barb
Your photos are especially lovely today. I really like all the fall images. That branch of pears just says "pick me". Beautiful job on these pictures!
I'm glad the weather is more to your liking.

Beautiful Images Barb. Rain here everyday.
Lovely shots, Barb!!
I really love fall, but i'm afraid this fall isn't going to be very colorful... hopefully, I'm wrong, tho! =)
Oh I love the pears and the cattails!
A bunch of years ago, my wedding was on Sept 26th. It was an outdoor wedding in my parent's backyard. The golden rods are in full bloom at the end of Sept. I didn't have a large florist bill because I recycled containers from a neighborhood cemetery trash pile and we filled them with golden rods, placed them up and down the isle and around the so called alter. All the attendants carried a bouquet of golden rods. Its the state flower of KY and yellow is one of my fav colors. So thank-you for posting the golden rod picture. enJOYed
We are on the same wave-length today with our posts...don't ya just love this time of year when changes are happening and the cooler weather moves in. Beautiful captures!!
I love fall as well! Your pictures are great. The apple looks good enough to eat.
I love your poem and pictures. It brings back great memories of childhood.
It feels like fall around here. The last few mornings have been a crisp 50*.
Calves are preconditioned and the Hubby is chopping corn. Fall work on the ranch is well underway.
You've captured the essence of autumn...the exploding milk pods always remind me of tiny dancers dancing winter in.
What great September pics! I love this time of the year!
I'm waiting- hopefully that touch of fall will be here in the south.
Dearest Barb,
Oh, marvelous pictures of fall and I love fall after the muggy, scorching weather♡♡♡ And tasty food like chestnut-rice and so on are waiting for us.
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
Sweet photos of the changing season, Barb. Isn't Goldenrod so pretty? You've captured it well. :)
Barb, I love the milkweeds! Capture some more shots of those! Thank you for your prayers for my friend with cancer. I spoke with her mom today and she just got the go-ahead to move forward with her treatment!
Great poem and lovely captures!!
I've missed some of your posts! Great shots you've captured! The milkweed is great!
