Surprise at the Winery

My daughter had told me about a new winery on the north shore of Lake Waconia.  I decided to check it out.  This is the first thing I saw as I drove in.  A big black barn, horses and fence.  I've never seen a black barn in Minnesota.

I went back to the winery with my daughter and her boyfriend and I'll show those pictures later.

I'm sharing these at

Thanks for stopping by.
Until next time...have a great weekend
Barb

Sweet Barn...Joe informs me they have black barns in Kentucky in order to dry out crops like tobacco. I still am loving the yellow barn:)

I'm in LOVE!
I adore black painted fences too.
So unique and so not boring like white fences :)

I don't think I have ever seen a black barn in Minnesota either. I love your pictures.

Horses brighten up any scene.
What's the big white dome?

OK, I can't decide which barn I like the best...the rustic red one, the neat yellow one or this stunning black one! They are all wonderful! Hope you had a great visit with your kids....can't wait to see some of the pictures!

Yes, TWGirl is right--black barns are common in KY. The fence in your photo--first one--is one I admire a lot--so simple and functional, plus that lovely silvery grey.

Question-is that white horse too thin? It looks rather "ribby" to me. Maybe short of grazing?

I actually like the colour combos Barb; it looks much 'cooler' for the hot summers. Hope you found a 'nice drop'

Yup, you find them a lot in Kentucky and a few in southern Indiana; lovely to see with so many of the old barns being allowed to rot down.

That would definitely fit right in here in KY! Not only are the tobacco barns black, but many of the horse farm barns are, too. A lot of our fences are black. I like the fact it's two story. Beautiful barn and well kept. Those are good looking horses, too.

Wonderful rural captures. Love the barn and the horses. I am not sure if I have seen any black barns around here. Great shots.

A winery - my kind of place! And, with a barn, fences, and horses...what more could you ask! This was great! Too bad it is so far away...

Hi Barb,

Great photos of lovely horses and great out buildings.

Thanks so much for linking up.

I hope that you are well,
I am sorry that I haven't visited you this week but I have been so busy at home that I haven't had time to blog or comment.

It is cold here this evening so I have the central heating on
and am going to have a cup of tea to warm myself up!

Wishing you a happy weekend

x Fiona

I have always liked wood fences. Nice shot. Yes, a black barn don't see that too often but it is beautiful specially with the gorgeous rood. MB

I don't know what I like beeter..the barn or those horses, as I had my very own horse growing up on my grandparents farm in the summertime. Take care, Janice

The only black barns I have seen have all been on blogs. Looks like nontraditional colors are starting to become popular based on the captures in blogland. I'm sure that some out there seeing the post of black, yellow and other colors will copy them or perhaps choose a different yet unheard of color.

Can't wait for someone to post a purple barn.

What a peaceful scene. I could sit on the fence all day and just. sit. and enjoy the day away. Someday.

I've never understood black barns, especially black barns where hay is stored. It seems like the barns would get too hot and cause problems with spontaneous combustion with the hay.
Love your photos, they are great!

Interesting choice of color for sure. I normally see white or red barns around my area in Delaware. Wonder if black makes it any hotter inside.

Pretty photos. I don't think I've ever seen a black barn. It doesn't compare to the bright red ones, but I like it!
