The Canadian Pacific Railroad has been running these trains since 1999 and generated $5.6 million and 2.5 million pounds of food for community food shelves. They have two trains-one in the U.S. that will rumble through 8 states and the other through six Canadian provinces. Our little town is home to a Canadian Pacific depot and maintenance center.
Here is the train coming into town. See the US and Canadian flags.
It was cold and windy and I had to walk a long way down the track to get these pictures. Most of the time the sun was shining right in my eyes.
The train has14 cars decorated with the lights. A modified boxcar opens into a stage for entertainers. I had to get right up close to the cars in order to see the lights.
A look at a passenger car and the modified box car.
Once they opened the door I couldn't get very close as all the little kids were standing right up front.
It was too cold to stand there any longer. I hope you enjoyed seeing the Holiday Train.

Happy Holidays!

It's so nice to see a train that isn't slathered in graffiti! The red is very festive. I took our children's Christmas card photo this year in front of a red caboose. andrea@townandprairie
What a great train , How fun that would be to see...Merry Christmas
Fun! They do something like this in my home town but with boats (I live in Florida). Its just now getting cool enough to enjoy being outside here, nothing like your chilly photos. If you have time to visit and follow along I would love it!

Thanks for sharing!
This is so fun! I didn't know they did something like this. RR tracks aren't too far from our house...I would love to see this! I know some people don't like having tracks near their home, but I always find it quite romantic and nostalgic, and wonder where the train is heading! Thanks for sharing!
Oh my gosh--I LOVE trains--and this is amazing!!! WOW! Thanks SO much for taking pics!!!
And thank you for your sweet note--it means so much to me!!! xo Cindy
how special to decorate the containers like they did; thanks for sharing something quite unique
Oh, that's so pretty! I'll bet seeing it in person with all the lights was beautiful! Thanks for your comments on my painting, Barb! It's the first time I've picked up a paint brush in a long, long time! Now, I'm really in the mood to paint! So happy we've become friends, too!
Hugs, Cindy
What a fun tradition! It's nice that it raises money for a worthy cause.
Thanks for sharing your photos.
I agree with you, that must be quite a lovely sight at night!
