Sunshine and Barns

I have always like taking pictures of old barns and other old buildings.  I found this blog today called Bluff Area Daily  that features barns on Tuesday.

Since I have so many picture of old barns I thought I would do a post of some I saw in Wyoming a couple of years ago.  They are situated at the foot of the Teton Mountains near Jackson Hole.  I was traveling with a couple of cousins and we were told the best time to photograph them is at dawn just as the sun is coming up.
So we got up before 6 am and headed out there.  It was a cold morning and we thought maybe we were crazy getting up  so early on such a cold day.   Well we were surprised when we got there and here were so many people  with the big cameras and tripods.  We laughed as all we had were point and shoot cameras.  Here are the pictures I got with my little camera.

Everyone waiting with their high quality cameras for the sun to come up.  The barn is known as the Moulton Barn and  is on Morman Row 13 miles north of Jackson Hole.  It is one of the most photographed barns.

The sun starting to hit the mountain tops.

The sun a little higher  up

Now the sun is shining on the whole barn

Here are 3 more old barns that were in the area

must've been the local camera club lined up there?! Can imagine your gasp when you first arrived to see so many had gotten up early than you did. Not surprising; wow that backdrop to the barn is spectacular. You must've had such a buzz taking photos ---- they're each delightful.

These are beautiful photos! I recognized the barn, but wasn't 100 percent sure until I read your post. Maybe someday, I'll be lucky enough to get a few photos of it too.

Oh my goodness, Barb! What gorgeous photos!
I have a major addiction to barns ever since I was a child. We'd drive out west every year and we'd see some of the most gorgeous barns you can ever imagine in the most beautiful places... you just took me back a few years! :)
(BTW,the shop I just opened is inside a historic barn! :)
Hope you have a wonderful week! xo

Such stunning sunrise views, clear mountain outline and picturesque barns. The trees of the first photo are so pretty. I love sunrise as it's the symbol of light and clear of the day start.

I am so glad you are organized with your photos because I am awful at it. Have not learned the secret yet. What a nice collection of Wyoming barns. Some look similar to this area of VA and others are very different. Still, they all are beautiful and they all have their now distinct personalities. genie

Welcome to Barn Charm! =)

Yes, yes, that's a very popular barn, they all are, because it's hard to beat such a GORGEOUS view! WoW! My grandparents took me to Jackson Hole, The Tetons, & Yellowstone nearly 30 years ago, but we didn't get to see those barns... If I ever get back out there, I'll definitely make my way there!

I'm so glad you found us here at Barn Charm & thank you very much for joining! =) Hope to see you back soon

Love your barns from Wyoming. I frequently use a point-and-shoot. If it works, it works!

Hi Barb, thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment! You have a very nice blog with beautiful photos. I love barns and have since I was a kid growing up on the farm, playing in the barn in the hay loft. The older rustic looking barns such as this beauty really appeal to me. These are wonderful shots and the Tetons in the background are just breathtaking. I will sign up as a follower and come back to visit again! ~Cheryl

All those photographers lined up with their fancy cameras has to make you wonder. Did they get together and vote on where to stand? It would be interesting to compare the shots. Would they all be similar or surprisingly different?

These are beautiful, Barb. Your camera did just fine! There's something about an old building that captures the imagination, the sense of history, I suppose.

Wow, when the sun hit the barn in full splendour, it took on a lovely golden glow.
If only these old barns could talk to tell of their history and people that worked in them.
