Looking Ahead and Saying Goodby

No, I'm not going anywhere, but I am saying goodby to Dell.  I'm sad that she hasn't been able to share her talents, humor, and photography here on this blog.  She has decided that she is just too busy to do any blogging.  I have a feeling when she retires she will start her own blog.

So I am looking at a new name for my blog that will represent more of who I am.  I think the new name will be
Grandma Barb's This and That.  My grandkids all call me Grandma Barb and this blog is a little of this and that.  I would like to keep the same url. When I read about that it says that I can do that and keep my followers but the feed will go by the blog name not the url.  It suggests setting up a sub blog.  Anyway I am technically impaired and can't figure it out.  Can anyone explain to me what I need to do?

So in saying good by to Dell I decided to show a few of the lighthouses we've seen on our trips.  I got the idea  when I saw that Pat, at Back Porch Musings has a beautiful picture of Split Rock Lighthouse in Minnesota on her mantel.  Dell and I have been there several times.  In fact the picture of us on our profile was taken there and that is the lighthouse in the background.  Here is the picture of us from a few quite a few years ago.  I am  the one with the big sun glasses.

Other lighthouses from Minnesota

This lighthouse is in Two Harbors and is a bed and breakfast.  We have stayed in it several times.

The next 3 lighthouses are in the Harbor at Duluth
I don't know that they have names

The following lighthouses are in Maine

Portland Head
Bass Harbor

Marshall Point
The rest of the Lighthouses are in Michigan

In the harbor of Macinac Island

White Shoals

Old Macinac Lighthouse with bridge in background

These are just a handful of the lighthouses we have visited.  Sometime I will show more of our lighthouse tours.

If anyone can give me some advice on how to proceed with the name change I would really appreciate it.  I don't want to have to start a whole new blog.

Another technical question I have is why, when I sign up to follow someone, I don't receive notices of their posts.  This has happened to me 2 or 3 times.

I am linking this to Outdoor Wednesday at A Southern Daydreamer

I hope you are all having a great week.

Barb

Hi, Barb
I wish I could help, but I haven't made a name change here. Good Luck as you fly solo. I'll be sure to continue to "follow" you when you settle into your new name.

I love the lighthouse pics! I have been to the Mackinac lighthouse many times.

I am not positive, but I think if you just want to change the name of your blog go to settings and just change the title to whatever you want it to be. The URL will stay the same. Is that what you want to do?

Hi Barb,
Sorry I cant't help you with the name change.
I have the same problem with blogs I follow, some of them don't even show in my list.
Love your beautiful photos of all the lighthouses.
We have some here too and I love to visit them.
God luck on your own!

I'll be interested what happens when you change blog-names. Keep on blogging, that's the main thing. Haven't experienced the 'friends' issue you're having. Thought to type in an enquiry in Blogger help? There's probably someone else already addressed this problem with some replies to show you the way through or an explanation at least. I'm assuming you had hit 'save' or 'done' (just off the top of my head here, no idea if that's really a possibility)

Me, again. I was reading another blogger's post and she was mentioning she changed her name. It looks like the URL is the same, but it showed up on someone's blogroll with the name she uses now. Here's a link to her post if you want to read it, nearer the end of it: http://redo101.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Hi Barb,
Oh, there's no problem with changing the name on your blog header and having a different one as the address--lots of people do that, so you're cool!! Yay!!!

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes...You're so sweet. And I adore these lighthouses too. xo Cindy

My URL and Blog name are different , a lot of blogs are like that , it's no big deal . Just announce the change on your Blog, which you have. Maybe put it on your side bar for a while and maybe mention it when you comment for a while . I think it will work out fine . :)

I love the lighthouses!I have been to a few in my state . I would love to visit them allover the US , that would be very cool ! Great Post !

Barb-
I never receive notices for anyone, ever. I have to go into the dashboard to find them, and it took me awhile to find that out. Blogging can be so confusing! andrea@townandprairie

Hi Barb, Happy New Year! I have been out of the loop for a while - exciting news about your blog. I like the new name! And the lighthouse pictures are beautiful!

Hi Barb, just go into "Design", then "Settings" then change the title of your blog by editing it. Hope this helps. By the way, my deceased hubby was into lighthouses and probably visited all those you mentioned which were in Michigan. Hugs, Chris
